Summer NetGalley Challenge

April 25, 2021
2021 Summer NetGalley Challenge

NetGalley books are a fun way to get your hands on Advance Reader copies of new releases, but if you’re not careful, they can add up quickly. Before you know it, your Feedback Ratio is at 38% and you’ve got 50+ books that still need to be reviewed (some with release dates that are long-since past). Does this sound like you? Our first-ever Summer NetGalley Challenge is perfect for you!

Bookstacks & Golden Moms earns from qualifying purchases through our affiliates. Read our full disclosure โ€“>ย here.

Who?

NetGalley procrastinators UNITE!

If you’re anything like me and log into NetGalley, only to find new books that you can’t wait to read, this challenge is for you! Join other booknerds like yourself who think they’re getting caught up on their NetGalley queue, only to go on a requesting binge and add 5-6 new books to their reading pile in a matter of minutes.

With NetGalley’s recommended feedback ratio of 80%, if you have a backlog your chances of being approved for titles goes down. This challenge works well for readers who need to catch up on a couple titles, or ones like me who have quite the backlog *hides head in booknerd shame*.

When?

You’ve probably already guessed from the title but this challenge is a summer reading challenge.

June 1, 2021 – August 31, 2021

To keep this challenge as relaxed as possible (it is the summer, after all!), we’re running it all summer long. It will open at midnight in your time zone on June 1st and close at 11:59pm on August 31st.

Haven’t joined the 2021 AtoZ Reading Challenge yet? No worries, there’s still time!

How?

It couldn’t be easier to participate in this challenge. All you need to do is grab our challenge button and share it on your blog or social media ๐Ÿ™‚

No Challenge is Complete without Levels!

NetGalley Challenge Levels

This is a very relaxed challenge, but for those of you who want to push yourself to read as many as possible, we’ve created levels ๐Ÿ™‚ Read as many books as you want and give a shoutout each time you hit a new level! You can tag us @bookstacksngoldenmoms on Instagram and use the hashtag #bookstacksnetgalleysummer21 in your posts.

Do you request way more NetGalley eARCs than you have time to read? Or do you go through requesting sprees and wonder later what came over you? Join us for the Summer NetGalley Challenge to get that feedback percentage back up where it belongs!

I will try and get through some of mine. This sounds like a fun challenge.

You have described me all too well! My Netgalley ratio is an abysmal 35%.

Right? I look at it and I’m so ashamed at how low I’ve let my NetGalley ratio get. Hopefully I can clean it up this summer and feel less like a bad reader.

What a great challenge. I do need to catch up on my NetGalley books. Iโ€™m pretty inundated with work reading at the moment but Iโ€™ll revisit this in June and see how Iโ€™m feeling!

Am in … Love Net Galley and going to get to more serious reading!

I can’t believe how quickly I got behind on NetGalley. I am hoping to be able to raise my feedback ratio significantly with this challenge.

That’s great!! I’m very excited to start the Summer NetGalley Challenge and can’t believe how many other readers are in need of the same type of motivation.

Yes what a great idea , all ready working on my June TBR and quite a lot of the books on there are NetGalley

  • Reply Finitha Jose June 5, 2021 at 4:00 pm

I tend to keep my NetGalley ratio always above 80%. So not many books remain. Good luck to the participants!

  • Reply Sue @ Stack Those Books June 11, 2021 at 7:37 pm

I so need to do this! I have let Mine get soooo low. I am going to work on it. I doubt Iโ€™ll get it back to 80% but I want to. So yes I want to participate in this challenge although Iโ€™m a bit late. Thanks for hosting!

Mine is horribly low. Really needing to raise it up so I can start requesting books again ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Reply vidya June 29, 2021 at 12:49 pm

I just noticed this and I am with you on the really low ratio.. so joining in now. (as far as AtoZ, I have joined that but failed at linking up.. the good part about joining these challenges is that I do read the books for the challenges ; sometimes review them; and occasionally — well, not too often at all — link them up to the challenges)

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 4, 2021 at 8:47 am

I always struggle with remembering to complete the challenge and especially linking up. I hope you’re able to motivate so that you can raise your NetGalley ratio, too ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Reply Carla July 3, 2021 at 4:02 pm

I definitely am a candidate for this challenge, but am planning on doing the Netgalley Bingo. My ratio is at 61% right now, but it takes me forever to move up as I keep requesting and the publishers keep approving me. I hope you get lots of participants.

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 3, 2021 at 5:59 pm

This challenge was kinda more for my benefit ๐Ÿ™‚ I desperately need to raise my NetGalley ratio and haven’t been requesting anything for a long time. Now I just have to get reading them!

  • Reply Sadie July 5, 2021 at 9:39 am

I think I (amazingly) only have 3 Netgalley books in need of review right now. But this is a great reminder to get to it.
