It Might Be You Tara September

Hi book friends! Do you read short stories? I don’t mean novellas … I mean itty bitty short stories. Normally, I don’t, but I picked up It Might Be You by Tara September, who is already a favorite author of mine, and filled a tiny portion of my afternoon with such a sweet romance. This short story is perfect for anyone who’s looking for a short beach read that will warm their hearts.

Two grandmas, just looking for love for their grandchildren

Oh come on, cut them some slack! This story revolves around Serina and Grayson, two grown adults who have moved back to Florida to be with their grandmothers after wanting to leave the hustle and bustle of the big city. And these two sweet ladies just want them to find love. So Serina is set up with “Junior”, someone from her childhood.

Side note: I absolutely love matchmaking grandmas. Or matchmaking friends or family members. Matchmakers in general are so much fun to read! They’re always far more bold than I could ever be, manipulating things to get two people together who might not have otherwise met.

Amanda … just looking for a man

I loved Amanda! She’s not a real estate agent to make money or build a career. No, she’s just looking for a man. And don’t you dare get in her way when she spots Mr. Right! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I guess you can call that a career goal. The way Elizabeth Klett narrated her, giving her a very distinct personality, really cracked me up. While Amanda isn’t a person I’d like to meet in real life, she definitely made for an entertaining side character.

Audiobook Narration by Elizabeth Klett – 5 stars!

I’m going to need a spreadsheet to keep track of all my favorite narrators. Seriously, Elizabeth Klett has added yet another name to that list. She did such a fantastic job giving each character their own distinct personality (especially Amanda!) and her narration was very easy to listen to. Elizabeth is an immensely talented narrator and I’ll eagerly listen to more of her narrations in the future.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Serina Spring is trading in her blossoming real estate career in Manhattan and an ex-boyfriend to start anew in Naples, Florida. But playing cards with her matchmaking grandmother was not exactly the exciting new life she had in mind.

So when Serina spies a handsome stranger at an Open House she thinks her luck might just be changing. Then again? Maybe not.

Fortunately, while on the white sandy beaches of Southwest Florida, Serina discovers that all is not what it seems if you just open yourself up to fate.

2 ๐Ÿ”ฅFlames – Sweet but not Hot

I only went with two flames for this contemporary romance because, while it’s super sweet and romantic, it’s not spicy or hot. And that worked for It Might Be You. I think anything more than this would have been pushing it and it would have just felt rushed.

It was like a sweeter You’ve Got Mail

via GIPHY

As she and Grayson flirt and banter back and forth, it felt so much like You’ve Got Mail. As full of himself as Grayson is, you can tell right away that she wants her blind date (set up by her Nana) to be him. I loved the sparks between them and how they made such a great pair.

I’m one of the super saps who loved You’ve Got Mail and when I started reading It Might Be You, that was exactly what it made me think of. They flirt and they get to know each other and she wants it to be him SO BADLY. Heck, I wanted it to be him so badly!

Final Answer for It Might Be You?

If you’re looking for a short, fun, summery beach read, It Might Be You is definitely it! This story is sweet and romantic, with expertly crafted characters (a difficult thing to do in such a short period of time) and you can easily read it in an afternoon on the beach!

Haha I love that you liked Amanda! I had fun putting her in the plot as she may or may not have been based on real-life people I’ve known ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I love You’ve Got Mail, classic Meg Ryan romance. Thank you again for taking a chance on one of my stories and the review.
