Bookstack'd Week #3

Hi book friends and happy Saturday! How was your week? While my work week was short (only 4 days because of the holiday), it was a busy one, making it feel far longer. I ended up with more than a few eARCs being sent to my Kindle and realized I need to hold off on joining any more book tours … at least for a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

This week, we’re linking up with the usual suspects (what else is new ๐Ÿ™‚ ) – The Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

This week was a little slower on the blog. No blog tours meant I could spend most of my week reading (or sleeping – 10 hour days takes a lot outta this girl … especially waking up at 4am!).

Down the TBR Hole #1 – Let’s Get Cleansing!
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi – book review โญโญโญโญ

Down the TBR Hole graphic

I absolutely loved my first round of Down the TBR Hole and couldn’t believe all the classics I had on my Kindle that, sorry to say, I’ll never read. As it doesn’t seem the meme is being hosted by the original creator anymore, I also made my own graphic (consistent with my brand colors) and tweaked it a bit. After all, I’m only purging my Kindle shelf each week (I’ve already downsized my physical bookshelves and just have to figure out a place to donate them).

I also posted my review of Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (a dystopian re-read on my TBR so I could continue on with the series). Since reading this one, I’ve already finished Through the Ever Night (review to come) and started Into the Still Blue. What a gripping series – these books are a bit larger (almost 400 pages) but they keep me hooked!

It’s Shoutout Time!

Bookstack'd Shoutout

It’s time for another bookish shout-out!! (And look at the pretty on-brand graphic I made!). This week’s favorite blog post came from The Doodle Crafter and a post all about trends in YA fiction (I can’t believe how many of these I’ve noticed but not really noticed). This is definitely a discussion you should read if YA is your genre of choice (and even if it’s not!).

This Week on Bookstagram

Like last week, our Bookstagram focused a lot on blog tours again. I showcased the new book by Melissa Foster that I will be reading for a review tour (yay!! I can’t wait!!!) and participated in another cover reveal.

The Nanny and the Nerd Krista Sandor
It's Raining Men by Julie Hammerle
Aloha with Love Lindy Miller Terence Brody
Sweet, Sexy Heart Melissa Foster

I will admit, I’m most excited about the blog tour for Melissa Foster’s newest release Sweet, Sexy Heart. Every book I’ve read of hers (including the latest) has been an amazing read! Tear-jerkers, ones that leave you crying happy tears, and ones that emotionally destroy you. I’m so excited that I’ve found a tour company that works closely with her!!

The Magic of Found Objects Maddie Dawson
Into the Still Blue Veronica Rossi
Melissa Foster Snow Sisters boxed set
Christmas Crazy in July Jenna Hendricks

For the first time in forever, I chose one of the Amazon Prime First Reads choices that showed up on my Kindle this morning – The Magic of Found Objects by Maddie Dawson. This one releases on August 1, 2021 so I’m going to do my best to read it before the publication date.

I caved this week and spent money on two books – Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi because I just finished Through the Ever Night last night. I also picked up the Snow Sisters Trilogy by Melissa Foster because I already own books 1 and 3, but not book 2. My bargain brain said it was better to spend 99 cents on all three than $4.99 on just the one I needed (don’t judge!).

As for Christmas Crazy in July … well, we all knew it was coming – fiction based during/after the Covid-19 Pandemic. I’m intrigued to see where this book goes so I borrowed it on Kindle Unlimited for our Christmas in July read-a-thon.

What I Read Last
Through the Ever Night Veronica Rossi

I just finished Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi last night (and it lead to one of my two purchases this week). 4 stars and definitely a must-read for any dystopian fans.

Moody Reader Syndrome setting in here – I have absolutely no idea what I’ll be reading next (other than Christmas books for our read-a-thon).

I insanely recommend the Under the Never Sky series for anyone who enjoys dystopians!

And yes, 4am has taken considerable adjusting to, especially since I used to get home from work at 1:30am. A bit of a difference ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for stopping by to comment!

Hi there Megan! Wow! Your blog is gorgeous! Everything works so well together. Excellent job!

Under the never sky is not quite my reading style, but it still looks interesting and I am always willing to give new books a fair try.

Happy reading this upcoming week and good luck at work!

I’ve enjoyed dystopian novels ever since high school when we read Brave New World. If you like dystopians, I recommend it, but even if you don’t it’s still a good story ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to hear your thoughts if you decide to branch out a bit and pick it up. You have a great week, as well and thanks for stopping by!!

I need to purge my Kindle tbr too, but how do you delete those books? I have no idea, so just leave them all there! lol. Like you I have to stop myself from signing up for too many blog tours because I get behind and all I can read are e-galleys instead of all the other books I’ve bought myself. Hope you have a good week! Also I love your blog and the color scheme and buttons you’ve made!

I delete them directly on Amazon under the Content & Devices tab (in your account). That’s where I find my totals, as well.

  • Reply Whispering+Stories July 11, 2021 at 4:39 pm

You have a lot of good looking books on your list. I don’t think I have ever done a purge. I’ve deleted double copies etc. I haven’t a clue how many books are on my kindle without checking.

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 11, 2021 at 5:03 pm

I’m seeing that I rarely pick up the earlier books I’ve purchased/downloaded. And my tastes have changed so much so I think it’s about time to purge.

  • Reply Anne - Books of My Heart July 11, 2021 at 5:32 pm

Good job on organizing and removing books you aren’t going to read. I rarely buy a physical book anymore but my Kindle has a huge supply.

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 17, 2021 at 9:00 am

Thanks! I’m enjoying downsizing my Kindle so that I can actually enjoy and read the ones that are on there. I have a feeling it’s filled with so many I’ll never read … just a hunch.

  • Reply Billy Burgess July 11, 2021 at 6:05 pm

I downsized my physical collection last year, but somehow I have even more books stacked up everywhere.

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 17, 2021 at 9:00 am

It’s amazing how quickly they pile up! I downsized my physical library (filled up three boxes of books) and they’re still starting to stack up again … it’s never-ending.

  • Reply Diana @ Book of Secrets July 11, 2021 at 8:08 pm

I purged my Kindle library a year or so ago. I got rid of so many “freebies” that I’d never read, among others. My taste in books has changed quite a bit over the past decade, so I didn’t mind saying goodbye to them. Have a wonderful week!

    • Reply Bookstacks & Golden Moms July 17, 2021 at 8:58 am

That’s exactly where I am sitting … I’ve got so many that I bought just because and I’ll never read them. So now it’s time to purge.

  • Reply Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews July 12, 2021 at 1:20 am

So many great looking books on your list. I have to check out Christmas Crazy in July. It looks good. Enjoy your books and have a great week!

I am looking forward to reading Sweet Sexy Heart. A big fan of Melissa’s work.
