Authors I Discovered Through Book of the Month

January 14, 2023

Hey book gnomes! Today we’re going to talk about authors I discovered through Book of the Month. Book of the Month is the perfect place to find debut and repeat authors, early releases, and books from every genre. As I’ve collected books each month, I’ve been introduced to authors I may not have otherwise picked up. So here are a few of the authors I thoroughly enjoyed and think you should read, all courtesy of Book of the Month.

How Does Book Of The Month work?

Book of the Month is a subscription box for readers who want the chance to choose which book they’re being sent. Unlike most book boxes that choose for you and send everyone the same book. With BOTM, a team of bibliophiles hand-picks 5-7 books each month and we (the subscribers) choose the one we’re most excited for. Each box also has room for up to 2 add-ons from previous months and this is one of the cheapest ways to get gorgeous, high-quality hardcover books.

5 Book of the Month Must-Read Authors

BLAKE CROUCH – Before Book of the Month, I hadn’t even heard of Blake Crouch. I picked up DARK MATTER because it shares a name with a TV show I adore. While I ended up with something entirely different from what I expected, my trip down the rabbit hole left me with a new favorite author.

ERIN STERLING – My introduction to Erin Sterling’s writing came through THE EX HEX. The world she created sucked me in and when the sequel released in September 2022, I ordered it from Book of the Month. These two books look gorgeous together on my bookshelf and I’ll likely read them again this coming fall.

GREER HENDRICKS & SARAH PEKKANEN – THE GOLDEN COUPLE was one of the first thriller books I picked up in 2022. It was one of the most talked about BOTM books and I ordered it purely for the fear of missing out (FOMO). This book gripped my attention and had my heart racing. This incredible author duo will be on my list for a long time.

LAUREN KUNG JESSEN – LUNAR LOVE is one of those amazing books that lands on your doorstep before its publication date. This is one of the perks of being a subscriber. On top of being an early release, I loved the banter between Olivia and Bennett as well as the little nuggets of information that taught me about Chinese culture. LUNAR LOVE is a beautiful debut novel and Lauren is a perfect addition to my shelf.

RUTH WARE – After reading THE IT GIRL, I am hooked on Ruth Ware’s writing style. This book was so intense, I had to read the ending with the lights on. Thank you, Book of the Month … I will be reading many more of Ruth’s books!

Honorable Mentions: BOTM on my TBR

Behind every great reader, there is a TBR pile a mile long. While I’ve found some amazing authors (and books), I also have many more still on my bookshelf.

Just a few that I look forward to reading in 2023 are:

Kennedy Ryan – BEFORE I LET GO
V.E. Schwab – THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE
Ali Hazelwood – LOVE ON THE BRAIN
Lisa Jewell – THE FAMILY REMAINS
Nisha Sharma – DATING DR. DIL
